Abstract

The article analyzes the most common myths of election campaigns, attention is focused on the fact that the modern myth distorts the political consciousness and political life. However, the myth and myth-making and carry a positive feature because myth unites and mobilizes the nation, country, layer, group identity in creative activities in the name of great, even utopian, goals. It is noted that modern political myth-making is a means of creating the image of politicians and becomes a means of social control and manipulate the masses. Myth is defeated only if the individual mass consciousness changes - able to critically assess the socio-political processes.
