Abstract

The strengthening of humanistic ideas in modern society has led to a change in the conceptual approach to the education of people with special educational needs, which has resulted in a shift in emphasis from adjusting the person with developmental disabilities to adapting the educational environment to the individual needs of such persons. Today, the key to the education of persons with special educational needs is the provision that the difficulties of the educational process of such persons are caused by the mismatch between the educational environment and the functional capabilities and limitations of a person with developmental disabilities. This mismatch leads to barriers that make it impossible for such persons to have free access to quality education. Designing an accessible educational environment involves removing barriers that are specific to each category of such persons due to the peculiarity of difficulties and limitations in obtaining education, which are determined by the specifics of the disorder and compensatory resources for their development, training and education. The category of students with hearing impairments requires special attention, as the difficulties that arise in the educational process of such persons are due to peculiar barriers to communication between them and most of the subjects of the educational process. At the same time, communication barriers are characterized by significant individual variability, depending on the degree of hearing impairment, family language, timeliness and nature of early intervention, language approach in obtaining education at previous levels, etc. This determines the peculiarity of the communication needs of such student
