Abstract

The article is devoted to solving important issues which related to the determination of the conditions and effective educational technologies that facilitate the greatest possible development of educational-cognitive competence in children with impaired intellectual development. Moving in this direction, in article the peculiarities of psychological and pedagogical support for children with intellectual disabilities are describes, taking into account the competence-based approach to their education. Because these children have significant difficulties in acquiring knowledge about the environment due to theirs deficiencies in the educational information processing, the recommendations are given that will allow to organize children's education and to form their informational (information processing), operational (mental operations implementation) and productive (skills and experience) components of educational-cognitive competencies. These components were selected based on the author's model of the educational-cognitive competencies structure. Based on analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature it was found that effective education organization for children with intellectual disabilities in terms of cognitive approach is possible due to the following: 1) it is the need for structuring of educational material and the environment (its space and time); 2) it takes into account the cyclical nature of the learning process and its four stages (awareness, research, study and application); it is taking into account which sensory style of learning prevails in the child; 4) it is the choice of such educational information that makes sense for the child, as well as the use of active learning game methods. There are examples of cognitive (gestalt and frame) schemes were provided, that will help children to structure educational information and memorize it. Author concluded that it is important to develop such educational and methodological support that would promote the perceptual and cognitive schemes formation in children with intellectual disabilities.
