Abstract

The digital transformation in the field of higher education in Ukraine entails a comprehensive approach to the іmplementation of digital solutions, including a secure electronic learning environment, digital infrastructure, enhancement of digital competence, and data automation. Simultaneously, the language training system for officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also requires digital transformation. Modern trends in digitization focus on creating synthetic learning environments that facilitate the development of foreign language competence for officers within a synthetic educational environment at higher military educational institution (HMEI): the use of chatbots; the integration of cutting-edge technologies for educational content development (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality); and the utilization of cloud technologies. The authors of the article identified the advantages of using virtual reality during foreign language training for officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the within a synthetic learning environment at HMEI as follows: visualization, concentration, engagement, safety, unlimited possibilities, personalization, and partnership. The article highlights that a synthetic learning environment can be utilized to create innovative digital solutions for learning and teaching, necessitating a significant expansion of HMEI infrastructure to support modern technologies. The article emphasizes that a crucial aspect of digitizing the process of developing foreign language competence for officers and the digital transformation of HMEI is the transition from traditional classroom education to virtual and online learning environments. This transition requires the design of a synthetic learning environment for HMEI that aligns with educational goals.
