Abstract

The model curriculum "Ukrainian Literature" for grades 5-6 of general secondary education institutions was prepared at the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine in accordance with the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education (2020). The program is focused on the competence teaching of Ukrainian literature, which is achieved by opening the possibilities of the subject for the formation of reading and key competencies of students in grades 7-9. The program is built on the thematic-genre principle in chronological order of presentation of writers within each thematic section. The structure of the program includes components of learning outcomes, substantive and procedural components. The course of Ukrainian literature for the 7th grade is built as a logical continuation of the study of artistic works according to the thematic-genre principle with observance of the chronological sequence in relation to the presentation of writer personalities within the thematic section. The study of Ukrainian literature in grades 8-9 is based on the chronological-stylistic principle, taking into account kinds-genre specificity. In the 8th grade, on the basis of the ideological and thematic relationship, it is also proposed to consider classic works of art in projection with works of modern literature.
