Abstract
About 540 million people in the world have hearing impairment, of which 360 million are disabled (according to WHO). It is predicted that the tendency to increase the number of people with hearing impairment will continue in the coming years. In 85% of cases, hearing impairment is congenital or occurs at an early age, in 1-2 years of a child's life. The social request to solve the problem of the rapid increase in the number of people with hearing impairment and to prevent its consequences became the basis for the development and implementation of a special international program (Prevention of Blindness and Deafness (PBD) Program), the purpose of which is to prevent hearing impairment and overcome its consequences. The program envisages measures aimed at prevention, diagnosis and treatment with modern scientifically based methods of diseases that cause hearing impairment.
