Abstract
The article analyzes the reading needs of modern teenagers. Attention is focused on the emergence of new themes in modern Ukrainian prose for children and youth. The author's concept of studying realistic-psychological prose in the new model curriculum in Ukrainian literature is presented. A system of methods for organizing the perception of prose works by younger teenagers in the process of studying Ukrainian literature has been developed.
