Abstract

The main directions, achievements and prospects of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine for 20 years are revealed. The priority areas of the library’s activities are outlined, including conducting basic and applied research in the field of specialised library science, bibliography studies, book science, information activities, pedagogical sources and biographies, history of education; scientific and information support of education development; formation of the specialised information resource; coordination and scientific and methodological support for the functioning of the network of educational libraries of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine; development of socio-cultural work; international cooperation. The results of scientific activity are analysed. During the functioning of the library, 13 complex interdisciplinary researches have been completed, and three applied researches are being carried out now. The achievements of scientific, informational, and library activity aimed at developing the specialised information resource and providing access to it are considered. Electronic resources, which became relevant in the development of the information society, digitalisation of education, and the widespread introduction of distance education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are emphasised. The main results of scientific and methodical support for the network of educational libraries of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine are presented.
