Abstract

The article stipulates the relevance of the application of the competency approach in the learning process, which is one of the means of implementing the tasks set before teachers by modern society. Knowledge, skills and abilities are replaced by the concept of competence. Thus, each subject has great potential for the development of key competencies of children. The purpose of this article is to consider the issue of competence approach to the formation of the content of language and literature in the education of primary school students with intellectual disabilities and the subject "Ukrainian language", which can ensure the formation and development of key subject competences and life skills as the ability to apply acquired knowledge, skills, abilities in practical life. The introduction of a competency-based approach in schools is one of the important conceptual provisions for updating the content and quality of education. This, in turn, leads to a revision of the content of education for children with intellectual disabilities, filling the conditions for its implementation. The article describes the special and methodological principles of teaching that formed the basis of scientific substantiation of the content of the language and literature industry for teaching students with intellectual disabilities. The conditions of comprehensive provision of all components of the educational process, which ensure the successful implementation of the competency approach in teaching students the Ukrainian language. The content of education of children with intellectual disabilities is based on the idea of their maximum possible social, mental and physical development; correction of their cognitive, emotional and volitional spheres in order to form a type of person who has a positive attitude to social values, other people and to himself and is capable of self-directed behavior, independent activity in the areas available to him. Competence approach to learning ensures the right of each student to individual development, taking into account his cognitive abilities. At the same time it is necessary to focus on the area of short-term development of the student, ie on his potential opportunities, which are currently realized through various types of pedagogical external assistance, and in the future will become the property of independent life of the child.
