Abstract

The article focuses on the importance of the book in the development of school education, in the intellectual formation of contemporary readers, the didactic-methodical aspect of the development of readers' competence of students, and the concept of "reader competence", "artistic reader competence", "information and reading competence" the specifics of the organization of library activities are briefly disclosed.
