Abstract
Approaches to the study of the electoral behavior phenomenon are listed in the paper: rational and instrumental approach in the context of political and ideological identification; sociological one in the context of social, regional, status, gender and other identification; social and psychological approach in the context of personal and psychological factors' effects (unconscious motivation, mood, cognitive complexity / simplicity), even manipulative approach in the context of situational / oversituational identification, that explain electoral behavior, link the impact of party identification mechanism on it. Party identification as a social phenomenon, affects electoral behavior, performs two important functions, namely facilitates the mobilization of supporters, party members bringing their specific actions and serves as legitimizing the existing regime, affects the stability of the regime.
