Abstract

The scientific and theoretical statements which are put in the conception of manuals on elective courses in foreign languages for students of 10-11th grades of a profile school are reflected in the article. Methodological foundations for creating this conception are covered, the dominant approaches to studying foreign languages in modern school such as competence, communicative-active, personality oriented and culturological are singled out. The main normalities and principles which are the basis of forecast manuals’ content are determined. The content of these manuals must provide deep and professionally orientated mastering foreign language (English, German, Spain, French) by senior pupils,taking into account their individual features, interests, reasons, capabilities,intentions. The basic requirements to the thematic modules are described, the criteria of texts selection to manuals are haracterised. Methodical organization of elective courses’ content is outlined, the aims and tasks that will be realized in manuals for the students of a senior school are formulated. Their structures and contents are described. The results of senior pupils’ studies after mastering these manuals are prognosticated.
