Abstract
The article deals with the peculiarities of public education policy of the Soviet government concerning the differentiation of organization and content of school education of the second half of the 80s of the 20th century. The attention is paid to the reasons for differentiation approach initiation as a factor of democratization and humanization of education in the context of socio-political, socio-economic and pedagogical factors (cooperation pedagogics, revival of national schools). The analysis of the regulatory and legal framework (Secondary School Strategy of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine «Education») showed that individualization and differentiation principles in education, the existing of different types of secondary schools were declared at public level in Ukraine in the late 80s – at the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century.
