Abstract
The paper is based on analyses of changes which faced university mission during long period since the origin of the first university up to contemporary times. The author stressed special attention to “temporal intersection” (teaching as a transmission of knowledge from the past and research as obtaining knowledge from the future) and “spatial intersection”(nationalization at nation state building stage and internationalization at contemporary global context).
