Abstract
The article analyzes essence and significance of the «self-concept» determining the human activity’s efficiency and productivity, and man’s attitude to life and oneself. Following example of the outstanding personality, famous Ukrainian scientist and educator Academician Semen Ustimovich Goncharenko, there has been outlined the «self-concept» impact for subject position of each person and a set of his/her social roles and professional status. It was determined that personality’s formation depends on the positive deployment of the «self-concept». The components of «self-concept» such as professional and positive «I» are characterized. The professional «self-concept» is defined as an individual’s imagination oneself as a professional. It is considered that the most important element in the structure of the individual «self-concept» is self-esteem of professional abilities and achievements. The article emphasizes that the positive «self-concept» provides positive self-attitude, positive self-esteem and positive expectations from the side of a partner in interpersonal communication. The author highlights the important role of the «self-concept» in personal life and development: it contributes to the internal consistency of the individual, determines the interpretation of his/her experience and is a source of expectations. There is noticed the influence of «self-concept» on human life and personal development, so comprehension and use of «self-concept» enable significant human qualities changes due to essential conditions such as following: all our feelings, behavior and actions always correspond to the «self-concept»; changing the «self-concept» we change ourselves and our lives.
