Abstract

The paper is devoted to the analyses of the process of shaping modern theoretical discourse of university in a historical retrospective. First of all the author investigated the heritage of Wilhelm von Humboldt and its contemporary interpretations in Ukrainian and Englishlanguage literature. The special attention is given to the principle of continuity as a fundamental one in the context of radical social changes.
