Abstract

Teaching profession is one of the professions for which there is a principle of «shining to others you burn yourself». Mental overload occurs frequently, and teachers have to be resistant to it. According to the World Psychiatric Union, almost every teacher is exposed to mental disorders and mental exhaustion. Up to 80% of teachers are in a fairly strain state that negatively affects their health, relationships with students, and effectiveness of educational process. That is why teacher’s emotional stability is an important indicator of his professional life. The studies show that 10% of teachers have high emotional stability, 45% – medium, 45% – the lowest level of emotional stability. This level of teachers’ emotional stability leads to significant negative consequences both in the life of people involved in educational process and its quality. The results obtained give reason to make conclusion as to the need of organizing special training for teachers in order to develop their skills aimed at managing their mental state, positive thinking, ability to act in critical situations, and assessing their emotional stability Analysis of textbooks related to professional development of vocational school teachers shows a lack of materials concerning formation of competence to manage their mental state, especially in critical situations. So it is important to find areas of professional development for teachers and production training foremen that would contribute to solving these problems. Our studies show that these problems are as follows: adaptation of a teacher to the professional activity, formation of a teacher’s motivation to teaching activity, formation of the skills to act adequately in critical pedagogical situations, to manage mental state, professional self-improvement to enhance emotional stability.
