Abstract

The article explores the role of digitalization of the educational process as a determining determinant of the development of open education in the conditions of modern digital transformation of society. The relevance of the study is due to the need to rethink the place and role of digitalization in the educational space not only as a means of implementing information and communication technologies, but as a systemic factor that determines the possibilities of implementing the principles of openness, accessibility, flexibility, personalization, inclusiveness of education, etc. Based on the analysis of the works of domestic and foreign scientists, international documents and modern concepts of digital transformation of education, the evolution of scientific approaches to understanding the relationship between digitalization and open education is revealed. It is shown that the concept of open education was formed much earlier than the modern stage of digital transformation, but it was the development of digital technologies that ensured its practical implementation, scalability and sustainable functioning. The main mechanisms of digitalization's impact on the development of open education are identified, including infrastructural, communication, resource, inclusive, and personalization. It is substantiated that digitalization creates conditions for the formation of a digital educational environment, the development of open educational resources, distance and blended learning, academic mobility, continuing education and individual educational trajectories. Thus, digitalization, acting as a systemic, integrative determinant of the development of open education, forms a new quality of the educational environment and determines the technological, organizational and pedagogical mechanisms for the implementation of its basic principles.
