Abstract

The article presents the main results of the fundamental research project ‘Theory and Practice of Preparing Future Teachers of Higher Pedagogical Education Institutions for Professional Activity in the Context of Societal Digitalisation’ and analyses the outcomes of their implementation in educational, scientific, and methodological practice. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to modernise teacher education in the context of the digital transformation of society, European integration, and the challenges of wartime and post-war recovery. The methodological framework of the study was based on systemic, competence-based, axiological, acmeological, and person-centred activity approaches; a combination of theoretical, empirical, and statistical research methods was employed. The conceptual and categorical framework of the research problem was substantiated. The concept of ‘professional-digital competence of a teacher of a higher pedagogical education institution’ was introduced into scientific discourse. A reference model of the system of teachers’ professional-digital competencies and a model for preparing future teachers for professional activity in the context of societal digitalisation were developed. The structure of digital safety competence was identified, a methodology for diagnosing and criteria for assessing the level of future teachers' digital competence were proposed. The practical effectiveness of the research was demonstrated through the renewal of educational programmes, academic disciplines, teaching practice, professional development programmes, and educational and methodological support in higher education institutions. The research findings were widely disseminated through scholarly publications, conferences, electronic resources, and open science platforms. The study confirms that the obtained scientific results contribute to the modernisation of the higher pedagogical education system and to improving the quality of preparing future teachers for professional activity in a digital educational environment.
