Abstract

On May 15, 2026, in the framework of Science Day in Ukraine, a scientific and practical online seminar entitled ‘Gifted Students During War: Results of Empirical Research’ was held. The event was organised by the G.S. Kostiuk Institute of Psychology of the National Academy of Educational Sciences (NAES) of Ukraine (Laboratory of Psychology of Giftedness), the Institute of Gifted Child of the NAES of Ukraine (Department of Giftedness Diagnostics), and the National Centre ‘Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine’. The seminar aimed at sharing experience and results of current empirical research on giftedness of students under martial law. Participants included researchers from the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, faculty members of higher education institutions, school psychologists and scholars in pedagogy, psychology, and related fields. The presentations covered a broad range of issues: psychological well-being and value interaction of gifted learners, resilience and coping strategies under prolonged war conditions, psychological consequences for educational professionals, assertiveness as a resource for the self-development of gifted individuals, digital technologies for diagnosing and supporting the gifted, and mentoring and innovative approaches to developing giftedness in the educational settings.
