Abstract

As a result of the Russo-Ukrainian war, differences in values between gifted individuals and their social environment have intensified, particularly in the areas of future planning and the development of their abilities. The complex life situation for gifted senior pupils and students is viewed as a combination of objective and subjective factors of self-development that hinder or prevent the realization of life projects, requiring their adjustment, a reassessment of personal values, and the mobilization of resources for the further development of giftedness. Psychological well-being is examined from the perspective of the eudaimonic approach, as gifted senior pupils and students are oriented toward self-knowledge and the self-development of abilities within a long-term life perspective. It was found that the vast majority of participants exhibit an average level of psychological well-being. Higher scores are demonstrated on the “positive relationships” scale, which evidently reflects tendencies toward establishing assertive interaction with a value-diverse environment and, simultaneously, mutual support in the context of the traumatic impacts of war. It was found that senior pupils and students who have achieved success in the development of their abilities exhibit higher levels of psychological well-being. It has been established that the conditions for supporting the psychological well-being of gifted senior pupils and students include creating situations of success, establishing assertive interaction with the social environment, relationships of mutual aid and mutual support, and individual and group psychological interventions to address those components of well-being that score low. Prospects for further research lie in establishing links between indicators of psychological well-being and assertiveness.
