Abstract
This article presents a theoretical and empirical analysis of the personal resources of psychological wellbeing within the framework of positive psychotherapy. The main approaches to interpreting the phenomenon of psychological well-being are reviewed, including the hedonic and eudaimonic perspectives, with an emphasis on a multidimensional model. The rationale for studying primary and secondary abilities as key resources for personality development in the context of positive psychotherapy is substantiated. The aim of the study is to determine the role of primary and secondary abilities as factors influencing psychological well-being. The empirical study involved 228 university students. Data were collected using the Ryff Scales of Psychological Well-Being and the Wiesbaden Inventory of Positive Psychotherapy (WIPPF). Statistical analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation analysis. The results indicated statistically significant relationships between psychological well-being and both primary and secondary abilities of the personality. The strongest correlations were found with primary abilities, particularly love, hope, trust, and patience, highlighting their central role in ensuring inner harmony and life satisfaction. Among secondary abilities, diligence, loyalty, punctuality, and cleanliness were found to be significant, facilitating effective social interaction and behavioral organization. A tendency toward a negative relationship between psychological well-being and thriftiness was also observed. The study concludes that primary abilities play a leading role as emotional and value-based resources of psychological well-being, while secondary abilities have a complementary function in supporting social adaptation. These findings expand the understanding of the personal resource potential and can be applied in psychological counseling and psychotherapy practice.
