Abstract

A schedule and thematic plan is presented for the integrated literature course (Ukrainian and foreign) for the 5th grade (pilot program), based on a 2, 5 hour weekly workload. The plan was developed in accordance with the curriculum for the integrated literature course (Ukrainian and foreign) for grades 5–6 (authored by T. Yatsenko, I. Tryhub, and V. Pakharenko). It specifies the optimal number of hours for the close study of texts and for extracurricular reading, and allocates time for language development, expressive reading, and the consolidation and systematization of the material learned. Key literary concepts to be understood during the analysis of literary works are also indicated. Recommended works of various art forms for a holistic understanding of educational topics.
