Abstract

This collection includes papers from the All-Ukrainian academic round table ‘The Scientific Legacy of Volodymyr Roments: A Contemporary Perspective’ (Kyiv, 18 May 2026). The following key issues were discussed at the online scientific round table: the relevance of V. A. Roments’ ideas in the context of contemporary psychological science; research into an individual’s capacity for action, choice and responsibility in conditions of uncertainty; an analysis of the transformation of an individual’s internal processes in situations of uncertain loss, crisis and war; the role of values, meanings and life orientations in shaping behaviour in complex life circumstances; a re-examination of the theory of action through the prism of contemporary traumatic events and mass crisis situations; contemporary process-oriented approaches to understanding adaptation (including the ‘Heart of Uncertainty’ model); the ethical aspects of action theory in the context of contemporary social challenges; the application of V. A. Roments’ ideas in psychological counselling, psychotherapy, rehabilitation and education; and the synthesis of action theory with contemporary models of uncertain loss, resilience and psychological adaptation. The collection is addressed to psychologists, scientists and practitioners, lecturers in higher education institutions, teachers and educators, doctoral candidates, postgraduate students and students.
