Abstract
This manual considers important problems of applied organizational psychology. The first part which consists of seven chapters highlights the essential features of organizations and role of organizational psychologists in providing organizations with psychological support. The following issues are analyzed: structure and functions of the organization, subject and objectives of organizational psychology, psychological service models to resolve psychological problems in organizations, content and essential features of a technological approach used in work of organizational psychologists, essential features of active socio-psychological training in implementing the technological approach. The second part of the manual which is made up of nine chapters deals with main technologies used by organizational psychologists for resolving problems faced by managers and employees in organizations. Among these technologies are: competitive team building, development of managers’ professional self-identification, effective managerial decision-making, development of managers’ professional ethics, prevention and overcoming of communicative barriers, conflict prevention and management, development of favorable socio-psychological climate, burnout prevention and management, psychological support of entrepreneurship. Each technology includes three components – information-semantic, diagnostic and intervention (psycho-corrective) – which allows for systemic and prompt resolving of organizational problems by organizational psychologists. This book which is the Ukraine’s first manual on applied organizational psychology is meant for organizational psychologists’ and managers’ training in institutions of higher learning and institutes of post-graduate training. The manual can be used by organizational psychologists and managers seeking to enhance efficiency of their organization on the basis of psychological laws of organizational functioning and development.
