Abstract
The article substantiates prompt engineering as an essential component of teachers’ digital competence within the European DigComp 2.2 framework. It examines its role in creating digital educational resources, personalizing learning, assessment, and professional interaction through generative artificial intelligence. The study proposes levels of teachers’ prompt competence and identifies methodological approaches to its development, including systemic, competence-based, activity-based, problem-based, algorithmic, and reflective approaches. It also analyzes the risks associated with generative AI, such as academic integrity, reliability of AI-generated outputs, personal data protection, and the need for pedagogical oversight. European practices of prompt engineering implementation are summarized, and prospects for its standardization in teacher education and professional development are outlined. The findings demonstrate that prompt engineering is evolving into a core professional competence that supports responsible AI integration and enhances the quality of teaching and learning in the context of digital transformation.
