Abstract
The article substantiates the theoretical foundations of organizing research activity of students in grades 7-9 in the process of analyzing the linguistic means of a literary work, and also identifies effective means of developing students’ ability to independently investigate linguistic phenomena based on literary texts and to establish the relationship between their content and linguistic form. It is noted that the relevance of the issue is determined by the groups of mandatory learning outcomes in the language and literature educational field defined in the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, in particular the orientation toward students’ research activity. It is proved that an important meansof organizing research activity is research tasks, which involve students in independent observations, on the basis of which they establish relationships between the content and linguistic form of the text, draw certain conclusions, and identify patterns, etc. A system of exercises aimed at developing students’ phonostylistic and lexical skills is illustrated using poetic texts by Taras Shevchenko. Particular attention is paid to work with vocabulary -antonyms, Church Slavonicisms, and historicisms -which ensures a deeper understanding of the ideological and artistic content of the works and the features of the individual author’s style. The expediency of using comprehensive research tasks is substantiated, which involve independent or partially guided student activity aimed at analyzing, interpreting, and generalizing language and literary material with reliance on interdisciplinary connections. The possibilities of integrating linguistic and literary components on the basis of working with literary and informational texts are revealed through specific examples. It is shown that involving students in the analysis of literary texts contributes to the awareness of the richness and expressive potential of the Ukrainian language, develops the ability to use lexicographic sources, interpret the cultural and historical context, determine the theme, idea, and issues of a work, analyze artistic means and their role in the text, and express and justify their own attitude to what has been read.
