Abstract
The article provides a theoretical analysis of the problem of forming active civic engagement among senior high school students in the digital environment. It is substantiated that digitalization significantly affects the processes of youth socialization, transforming the forms of civic participation, communication, and interaction. The specific features of the digital space as an environment for fostering civic engagement are identified, characterized by openness, interactivity, dynamism, and accessibility of information. It is determined that the key factors influencing the formation of active civic engagement among senior high school students include the level of digital and media literacy, the development of critical thinking, the availability of experience in social interaction within the online environment, as well as pedagogical support and the educational setting. The study reveals that the digital environment creates broad opportunities for youth participation in public life, particularly through online initiatives, social networks, and digital platforms; however, it simultaneously generates a number of risks. Among the major risks identified are the spread of disinformation, manipulative content, cyberbullying, information polarization, the emergence of superficial forms of participation, and a decline in trust in public institutions. It is concluded that effective formation of active civic engagement among senior high school students in the digital space is possible under the conditions of a systematic pedagogical approach aimed at developing value orientations, social responsibility, and the capacity for conscious participation in democratic processes. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that its findings can be used by educators, researchers, youth work specialists, postgraduate students, and university students in organizing educational activities in general secondary, special, and vocational education institutions in the process of fostering active civic engagement and developing civic identity in the digital environment.
