Abstract
The scientific article presents a comprehensive analysis and author's typology of intermodal contacts between the Ukrainian language and Ukrainian Sign Language (USL), based on the emic experience "from within" the Deaf community. The relevance of the work is due to the need to deconstruct phonocentric models that traditionally considered sign language as an auxiliary tool, rather than an equivalent linguistic system. Four basic types of language contacts that determine the professional and personal trajectory of a specialist are identified and detailed: spontaneous natural, institutionally mediated, technologically conditioned, crisis-catalyzed. It is proven that wartime conditions intensified linguistic mobilization, accelerated the neogenesis of terminology, and legitimized the use of digital platforms. The results of the study have practical significance for the development of barrier-free, accessibility, information provision of open science, and the implementation of USL best practices as a resource.
