Abstract

The article analyzes the potential of applying artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to support homeschooling in Ukraine, with a particular focus on parents performing tutoring functions. Given the increasing popularity of this educational form amid social, military, and humanitarian challenges, as well as the growing need for individualization of the educational process, the study examines the feasibility of integrating AI tools into informal educational environments. Within the research framework, the key parental functions in organizing home learning are identified: searching and selecting educational content, monitoring learning outcomes, supporting child motivation, and personalizing learning pathways. It is established that these functions can be partially or fully realized through AI-based tools, notably via automated knowledge assessment, recommendation generation, adaptive learning, and the use of virtual educational assistants. Examples of AI application on platforms oriented toward home learning are considered, including both Ukrainian platforms (notably “Na Urok”, “Vseosvita”, “Moia Shkola”) and international ones (Century Tech, Khan Academy, Squirrel AI, etc.). It is demonstrated that such services can significantly facilitate parental tutoring activities, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process. Special attention is given to analyzing the risks and limitations of AI use in homeschooling, particularly regarding issues of digital ethics and security, pedagogical appropriateness, and the preservation of live interaction within the family environment. The authors emphasize the importance of responsible innovation implementation, taking into account students’ age-related and cognitive characteristics, as well as the role of parents as intermediaries between the child and technological resources.
