Abstract

The work analyzes the interrelationships between indicators of aggressiveness and emotional and behavioral characteristics of men and women in conflict situations in marital relationships. It was found that in the female sample, aggressiveness is associated with conflict, depression, somatization of anxiety, fixation on psycho-traumatic experiences, psychological defense mechanisms (protective and defensive), as well as coercive strategy, which indicates the emotionally saturated and internally experienced nature of the conflict. In the male sample, aggressiveness reveals a correlation with conflict, depression, defensive defense mechanisms, as well as with a strategy of coercion, which reflects a tendency to an external, behaviorally active and dominant way of responding in conflict situations. The obtained results testify to the presence of gender-role characteristics of the manifestation of aggressiveness in marital conflicts, which are manifested not only at the level of its intensity, but also in the specificity of emotional and behavioral response.
