Abstract
The analytical materials are devoted to a comprehensive study of the current state, opportunities, and prospects of using generative artificial intelligence (AI) for the development of information and digital competence of lower secondary school students. The structure of the publication follows a logical progression from theoretical conceptualization of the problem to identifying перспективes, substantiating a model, and developing recommendations for the implementation of generative AI. The theoretical foundations of AI use in school education are consistently presented, including its educational potential, its impact on the transformation of the teacher’s role, and an analysis of pedagogical, ethical, and safety-related challenges. The results of an analysis of international experience in integrating generative AI into education are also provided. A separate section is devoted to an empirical study of the use of AI by students in Ukraine, including an analysis of awareness levels, usage practices, and attitudes toward the technology. Based on the findings, a conceptual model for integrating generative AI into the development of students’ information and digital competence is proposed, along with identified implementation prospects and practical recommendations for teachers on the pedagogically sound and safe use of AI in the educational process. The publication is intended for researchers, educators, academic staff, postgraduate students, students, and all those interested in the digital transformation of education and the implementation of innovative learning technologies.
