Abstract
This article analyses the processes of integrating the national general secondary education systems of EU member states into the European educational area. It has been found that this process is based on strategic priorities and the monitoring of progress against key indicators. A comprehensive approach to education policy is examined, encompassing preventive, intervention and compensatory measures to prevent early school leaving.
