Abstract
The methodological recommendations examine the principles of teaching a foreign language in the 8th grade of the New Ukrainian School. They focus on the development of intercultural foreign language communicative competence as the main goal of learning. The structure and components of this competence, including linguocultural and multicultural elements, are characterized. The recommendations highlight the specifics of organizing the educational process with regard to students’ age characteristics and substantiate the use of interactive technologies, project-based learning, gamification, digital tools, and the CLIL approach. The role of the teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment and applying formative assessment is also outlined.
