Abstract
Abstract. The article explores the key directions of state educational policy aimed at fostering and developing civil society in Ukraine. It identifies regulatory legal acts and documents that govern the process of civic formation of the individual, as well as educational concepts and development strategies that define the value orientations of the modern educational environment. The study reveals that current legislative initiatives are focused on strengthening civil society, with the democratization of education serving as one of the strategic priorities for achieving this goal. It is established that the regulatory framework of the educational system is based on democratic principles such as justice, openness, equality, inclusiveness, participation, tolerance, and respect for human rights and freedoms. The implementation of these principles across all levels of education provides a solid foundation for shaping civic consciousness among youth. In this context, particular attention is given to the socio-psychological dimension of the issue, especially the gradual development of learners’ ability to actively participate in public life and their readiness to act in the interests of society. The article emphasizes the importance of considering this aspect in the process of educational reform and highlights the need to strengthen support for the civic development of youth through the implementation of effective psychological and pedagogical practices and the creation of a democratic educational environment. Such an environment fosters awareness of human rights and freedoms, the formation of social responsibility, the development of critical thinking, the acceptance of diversity, and active engagement in community life and socially beneficial initiatives. The materials presented in the article may be useful for researchers, educators, psychologists, and all those who support the democratic development of education and the consolidation of civil society in Ukraine.
