Abstract
The article conducts a comparative analysis of model curricula in law according to certain criteria (whether the requirements of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education are taken into account; whether the competency-based approach is taken into account, whether the goals and objectives cover all components of educational competence; whether the list of expected learning outcomes and the proposed content are relevant to the subject field of law; whether the current achievements of legal science are taken into account and whether interdisciplinary connections are implemented in the educational legal material). The positive and negative aspects of each program are identified. The features of the model curriculum «Jurisprudence. Grade 9» for general secondary education institutions (authors: O. Pometun, T. Remekh, L. Rіabovol), such as: the program meets the requirements of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, it takes into account the goal of the civic and historical educational branch (forming the identity of a citizen of Ukraine, his active civic position on the principles of democracy, patriotism, respect for human rights and freedoms, recognition of the value of the rule of law and intolerance to corruption, etc.); the learning goal defined in the program is competency-oriented and specified through three tasks that correlate with the cognitive, practical and axiological components of the competency-based content of education; the program defines the optimal number of learning outcomes; the proposed content of the subject is not overloaded with issues studied in other subjects, in particular history and civic education, is based on current achievements of legal science and practice and a European methodological approach, covers the main components of jurisprudence (theory of law and the main branches of law – civil, family, labor, administrative, criminal); educational material is available to ninth-graders, selected taking into account the level of their training; the implementation of interdisciplinary connections with other subjects/courses of the civic and historical educational branch is envisaged. Based on the generalization of the above features, the program is characterized as a new generation educational publication.
