Abstract
The article examines the problem of the class teacher’s activity in preventing and overcoming educational losses of students of basic or specialized secondary education who make up the student body of his class. The significant role of class teachers in the process of preventing and overcoming educational losses of students of basic or specialized secondary education is facilitated by the peculiarities of the activity of this group of pedagogical workers, namely: a wide range of job tasks, rights and responsibilities enshrined in the current Regulations on the class teacher of an educational institution of the general secondary education system, the socio-psychological and socio-pedagogical influence that the class teacher, as a rule, is able to exert both on a group of students of a stable composition (class) and on the families (parents) of its representatives, the possibility of regular and close cooperation of the class teacher with the families (parents) of students, their high level of awareness of the state of personal development of students of the class, their motivation for educational activity, and the level of academic achievements. It is substantiated that the modern class teacher faces a wide range of tasks to prevent and overcome educational losses of students of basic and specialized secondary education: from diagnosing the risks of occurrence, qualitative and quantitative indicators of these losses, planning measures for their prevention, prophylaxis and compensation, to personal participation in relevant educational, educational and extracurricular work, coordinating the activities of other pedagogical workers (subject teachers), monitoring and evaluating the results of the fight against this negative educational phenomenon. The main functions (directions) of the class teacher’s activities in preventing and overcoming educational losses of the class’s student body (students of basic or specialized secondary education) are identified and substantiated, namely: diagnostic, predictive, design, planning function, communicative, coordinating, educational, educational, developmental, preventive-prophylactic, human rights, motivational, control, regulatory, reflexive-evaluative functions. The set of functions specified above determine the content of the class teacher’s activities in preventing and overcoming educational losses of students of basic or specialized secondary education who make up the student body of his class. An important direction for further scientific research on this problem is the identification of the features of the activities of class teachers in overcoming and preventing educational losses of students of basic secondary education and specialized secondary education, as well as the study of the specifics of the above-mentioned activities in relation to students of specialized secondary education in both academic and professional areas.
