Abstract

The guide outlines the didactic principles of creating a foreign language communicative educational environment in the process of teaching foreign languages to students of Grades 7–9 in a gymnasium. Special attention is given to the principles and approaches to developing such an environment, the selection of a system of exercises and tasks, and the formation of students’ intercultural foreign language communicative competence in four types of speech activity (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). The publication is intended for foreign language teachers of general secondary education institutions, methodologists of foreign languages at in-service teacher training institutes, and researchers who study the issues of foreign language teaching in general secondary education institutions.
