Abstract
The article analyzes international and Ukrainian approaches to preparing senior students for conscious life choices within the context of profile secondary education. A value shift has been identified from academic intelligence toward the integrated development of the individual, encompassing cognitive, social, emotional, and ethical dimensions, thereby ensuring a holistic formation of a personality capable of self-determination and continuous personal growth. Based on the analysis of contemporary research, the dominant characteristics of a graduate are outlined, including critical thinking, effective communication, civic responsibility, proactivity, emotional maturity, and the ability to make informed choices. A model of graduate readiness for life decisions has been developed, comprising six components: competent reader, literate user of the information space, effective team communicator, conscious citizen of Ukraine, proactive decision-maker, and emotionally mature individual. For each component, key tasks and developmental guidelines are specified, which ensure the integration of knowledge, skills, and values into students’ academic, professional, and social practice. Special attention is given to the individualization of the educational process, the implementation of flexible curricula, cooperation with businesses and higher education institutions, as well as the promotion of autonomy and critical information analysis. The implementation of the model’s components in educational practice may contribute to the development of individuals who consciously choose life paths, actively participate as responsible citizens, effectively realize their potential in contemporary conditions, and adapt to rapid changes in social and informational environments while supporting their own lifelong learning and personal growth. This integrated approach emphasizes not only the acquisition of knowledge and technical skills but also the formation of ethical, social, and emotional capacities that allow graduates to navigate complex societal challenges, engage in civic and professional activities responsibly, and pursue self-development in alignment with their values and interests. The model offers a framework for educators to foster holistic, proactive, and reflective individuals capable of conscious decision-making and meaningful participation in modern society.
