Abstract

The theses reveal that between 1991 and 2004, patriotic education in secondary schools of Ukraine became one of the key directions of state educational policy. During this period, patriotic education acquired the status of a strategic direction of educational policy of Ukraine. Its goal was to form in students national consciousness, love for the Motherland, respectful attitude towards state symbols, language, culture and history.
