Abstract

Skills operators support the forecasting of labour market needs by helping companies and professional sectors to build forward-looking job and skills management, assisting professional sectors in the development of qualifications. They support companies in planning the training of students and help small and medium-sized enterprises to identify their skills and training needs. Regional employment and training observatories provide regional systems for analysing and researching the relationship between employment, training and qualification requirements. Using data provided by national and regional VET stakeholders, they conduct research and provide expertise to forecast future economic and skills changes. They focus on training needs, employment trends; links between employment and training; sectoral approaches, occupational mobility and economic development.
