Abstract
The article presents a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of social motivation as a multi-component construct that determines an individual’s social behavior. The authors conceptualize social motivation not merely as a personal characteristic but as a structurally complex system, deeply rooted in the evolutionary history of humankind and shaped by the social context. The article outlines the main approaches to the study of social motivation: the behaviorist, cognitive, evolutionary, and humanistic perspectives, each highlighting different aspects of individual interaction with the social environment. Based on an interdisciplinary framework, the authors propose a structural model of social motivation that includes the following components: primary and secondary social needs, value orientations, motivational goals, external stimuli, internal attitudes, and emotional regulators. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of needs for belonging, acceptance, and recognition, which underlie the formation of a socially active personal position. The article explores the functioning of internal attitudes and emotions as regulatory factors of social behavior, facilitating its adaptation to dynamic social conditions. Intercultural aspects of social motivation are also presented, especially differences in its expression within collectivist and individualist cultures. The article provides an overview of the practical applications of the concept of social motivation in the fields of education, public administration, corporate management, healthcare, and volunteer activities. The authors stress the importance of developing social motivation in the context of social crises, digital transformation, and global challenges.
