Abstract

The theses outline the main linguistic, psychological, and methodological factors that complicate the development of foreign-language dialogic speech in students. Attention is drawn to the mismatch between the natural character of dialogue and traditional approaches to foreign language teaching at school. The role of formalized teaching methods, limited use of authentic speech samples, and insufficient focus on speaking in assessment is identified. Effective ways to overcome these difficulties are outlined, including the use of communicative situations and audio and video materials.
