Abstract

The article describes the essence and features of scientific discourse, substantiates the role of scientific discourse as an important component of the development of academic communicative competence of a higher education student, and develops exercises for studying the Ukrainian language in the aspect of scientific discourse. Mastering the norms of scientific discourse is an important component for the development of communicative competence, the formation of the academic identity of a higher education student, ensuring academic integrity and successful scientific communication, a necessary prerequisite for further professional growth and obtaining a scientific degree. In the process of research, an analysis of scientific views on the nature of the concept of «discourse», its features and typology were conducted. The author emphasizes that scientific discourse is a type of communication in the academic environment; a complex combination of verbal and non-verbal in the process of scientific communicative interaction; «a living scientific text in action», immersed in a certain social context. Scientific discourse requires strict adherence to the norms of scientific style of speech, scientific etiquette, and culture of scientific speech; it is regulated by clear social, institutional, and ethical norms. Scientific discourse is aimed at searching, analyzing, and synthesizing scientific knowledge, investigating a scientific problem, and disseminating and explaining research results. It is noted that scientific discourse is realized through the scientific style of speech. The scientific style of speech is characterized as a functional variety of literary language that serves the fields of science, technology, and education. The main characteristic features of the scientific style are described, which are explained by the nature of scientific thinking. The main genres of the scientific style of speech are characterized, which are forms of linguistic communication dictated by the communicative situation. The key practical result is the development of a set of various exercises, tasks, and cases for studying the Ukrainian language in the aspect of scientific discourse.
