Abstract
In the article, the results of an analysis of the opinions of principals of general secondary education institutions regarding the reasons for differences between their self-assessment of the effectiveness of their professional activities and the evaluation during certification are presented. The survey involved principals of secondary schools from several regions of Ukraine. The vast majority of respondents considered their self-assessment of professional effectiveness to be adequate. Factor analysis demonstrated that the emphasis placed by school principals on identifying the main reasons for differences between self-assessment and certification varies significantly by gender.
