Abstract

The article covers the results of theoretical and empirical research, aimed at studying the relationship between hardiness and self-determination of personality. Proceeding from the theoretical analysis of the research problem, the self-determination of a person can be defined as a sense of freedom in relation to both the forces of the external environment and the internal forces of the individual. In turn, the hardiness is considered by us as the main resource of the transformation of life events into new opportunities in spite of external negative influences and has a direct impact on the self-determination of personality. Thus, hardiness is a holistic system of education, which combines meaningful goals and values for the individual, self-adaptation, stylistic characteristics of behavior, determined by attitudes and beliefs about the world, social environment and its place in it. Moreover, the development of components of viability, such as involvement, control and risk acceptance, contribute to the formation of a positive attitude towards themselves and life events. So, under sustainability, we understand the system education, which emphasizes the settings that motivate the person to transform stressful life events into new opportunities and is an integral part of self-determination of the individual. And this, in turn, indicates that hardiness is understood as a dispositive personal entity involved in the processes of self regulation and self-determination of personality and provides the ability and courage of an individual to be involved in a changed situation in the process of seeking and obtaining new meanings, to generate a new attitude to the world, to take and make decisions. It is established that a self-determined person acts on the basis of his/her own choice, and not on the basis of obligations or coercion, and this choice is based on the awareness of their needs and the opposition to their external conditions.
