Abstract

The material offers an overview of strategic, organizational, and technical aspects of cybersecurity for scientific institutions of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. It examines key challenges of modern cybersecurity in academia, assesses the relevance of international information security standards (ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, Zero Trust Architecture, GDPR, ENISA) for implementation in Ukrainian research organizations. The article describes typical assets, risks, and threats related to open scientific data, infrastructure, cloud services, CMS, and DDoS attacks. Emphasis is placed on role-based access models, two-factor authentication, monitoring tools, incident response, and the need to raise digital hygiene and establish corporate security policies for staff. Recommendations focus on the introduction of open-source solutions and closer cooperation with specialized agencies (CERT-UA). Practical cases and statistics are presented to illustrate the current state of cybersecurity in scientific research.
