Abstract
Over the past decades, with the growing understanding of the importance of flexible and adaptive educational systems, profile education in high school has been the focus of scientific research and practical research. The first attempt to introduce it took place in 1999–2000, but then it did not become widespread in school education. At the same time, this stage became important, because a theoretical foundation was laid, which was further improved and developed. For more than thirty years, a search has been carried out for new models, approaches and forms of organizing profile education, focused on the individual development of pupils. The system gradually acquired a legal, methodological and practical basis, but it required greater flexibility and compliance with modern challenges, as well as taking into account the individual educational needs of schoolchildren. Currently, pilot projects of profile schools have been launched in Ukraine, creating the basis for the full-scale introduction of profile education, which is planned from 2027. This process is designed to ensure a harmonious combination of pupils' personal interests and abilities with the needs of society.
