Abstract

The theoretical and practical principles of the formation and development of digital collections in libraries, archives, museums and scientific and educational institutions are considered. The importance of international standards and principles of digital curation (Dublin Core, MARC, PREMIS, METS, OAI-PMH, FAIR) in ensuring the quality, interoperability, authenticity and durability of digital resources is outlined. The role of leading global and national initiatives in the field of digitization of cultural and scientific heritage is analyzed, in particular the World Digital Library, Europeana, DPLA projects, as well as the experience of Ukrainian institutions implementing international practices. The need for strategic planning, legal responsibility, technical sustainability and open access as key conditions for effective management of digital collections is emphasized. The conclusion is made about the importance of adapting global approaches to the national context in order to increase the level of integration of Ukraine into the global digital knowledge space.
