Abstract
The presentation explores the pedagogical legacy of Teréz Brunszvik (1775–1861) and Sofiia Rusova (1856–1940), founders of preschool education systems in Hungary and Ukraine. It highlights the common features of their educational concepts—humanism, individuality, national character, and cultural-aesthetic orientation. The influence of European pedagogues such as Pestalozzi, Fröbel, and Diesterweg on their ideas is traced, along with the symbolic role of music as a metaphor for harmony in education, uniting both educators. The presentation emphasizes the relevance of Brunszvik’s and Rusova’s heritage for modern education as a foundation for humanistic, culture-centered, and child-oriented pedagogy.
